Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, has described a newly launched book titled “100+ Eminent Nigerians from Katsina State: Profiles in Nation-Building and History” as a historical treasure and a source of guidance for future generations.

Speaking at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Auditorium during Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebration on October 1, 2025, Radda praised the authors, Isaac B. Agbaje and Shehu Sarki Idris, for compiling the profiles of more than one hundred distinguished sons and daughters of Katsina who made significant contributions in religion, politics, security, education, and national development.

“This book is not just a publication; it is a legacy of lessons and inspiration. Our youth should study the lives of these great men and women and draw guidance from their sacrifices,” the governor stated.

To emphasise its value, Radda announced he had purchased ten copies for each of his children. He further called on schools and libraries across Katsina to make the book available to students.

The event also recalled the 38th anniversary of Katsina State’s creation, celebrated the previous week. Radda noted that the state’s founding fathers should be remembered for their dedication and sacrifices.

The book launch attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria, including the Chief Launcher Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Political Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Chief of Staff to the Katsina Governor, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasiru. Business mogul Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal served as co-launcher, alongside Senator Ibrahim Ida, the Wazirin Katsina.

Traditional rulers also graced the occasion, including the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, represented by Kaura Katsina Aminu Nuhu Abdulkadir, and the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar. Senior government officials, security chiefs, politicians, scholars, and community leaders were also in attendance.

The book highlights the legacies of prominent Katsina personalities such as Sheikh Yakubu Yahaya, a leading Shi’a cleric, and Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan, an Ahlus-Sunna scholar, along with politicians, academics, military officers, and other notable figures.

Governor Radda hailed the publication as a vital means of preserving history while promoting values of sacrifice, resilience, and patriotism for generations to come.
